The official licensed video game of the Olympic Winter Games, Salt Lake 2002 combines six actual events, authentic Olympic environments and competitive multi-player modes with fluid real-time animation and TV-style camera presentation creating an ultra-realistic and challenging sports gaming experience.

Six Olympic Events:

  • Men's alpine skiing downhill
  • Ladies' alpine skiing slalom
  • Men's two-man bobsleigh
  • Women's freestyle skiing aerials
  • Men's ski jumping K120 individual
  • Men's snowboard parallel giant slalom

Four Modes of Play:

Freeform Mode: (single/multi-player) A training mode for players to acclimate themselves with each of the six events. This mode allows the players to adjust the weather and time-of-day effects. Tailored entirely for event practice, this mode has no computer players.
  • Olympic Mode: (single/multi-player) This mode offers a genuine Olympic experience, featuring all the ceremonies and regalia associated with the Olympic Games. All events are held in their authentic Salt Lake location and are played at the correct time of day according to the real event schedule. Sixteen athletes will compete in each of the six events.
  • Classic Mode: (single player) Demonstrating the game's weather and special effects to the fullest, this mode allows the player to modify these effects to alter the gameplay difficulty. A player starts the classic mode with three lives. Each event has a target time or distance that must be met or a life is lost. Once an event has been successfully completed, the player will move on to the next event. When all six events have been completed, the player is rewarded with part of a trophy and starts the six events again at a higher level of difficulty. The player wins when they successfully complete all events five times.
  • Tournament Mode: (single/multi-player) Set entirely at night, this mode is essentially a knockout competition. Sixteen athletes progress through four rounds of competition with the number of competitors halving after each round.
